Sophorose Lipid Production from Glucose and Soybean Oil by Torulopsis bombicola
Oh, Deok Kun
Kim, Jung Hoe/Kim, Sang Yong
Abstract
The effect of glucose and soybean oil as carbon sources on the growth of Torulopsis bombicola and the production of sophorose lipid was investigated. In batch culture, it was found that glucose increased the growth rate of cells and that soybean oil stimulated the production of sophorose lipid. In continuous culture, the specific consumption rate of glucose increased by increasing the specific growth rate. The specific consumption rate of soybean oil depended absolutely upon the specific production rate of sophorose lipid in the culture.
